Technology in Teaching

      Flipgrid is an online application that enables people to connect with each other through the video recordings. The main goal is to help learning buy making it more interesting and giving students more chances to speak. The teacher gives the students a topic and the students post a video of their theirselves talking about the topic so that the teacher can check it out later. This way, the teacher can pay attention to more students compared to the classic face to face classes. All you have to do is enter a class code and upload your video recording!   Quizlet is a webtool that allows you to create online classes and activities. The activites range from matching the cards to listening and matching. It is a tool that can aid you while learning a language and it can help distance learning since the teacher cannot just hand you a quiz paper. It is really easy to configure, just choose what kind of activity you want to do, and type whatever you want, be it vocabulary, questions  you can even use pictures as questions and ask the words. All you have to do is create cards with questions or vocabulary and it will automatically create various activities for you.

  Second Life is an application that you can use to stimulate real life. You download the application and open it, then you create your very own avatar and you just explore! Second Life can also be used for educational purposes as stated on the picture above! This is my avatar, it is not that hard to customize your avatar so you do not lose too much time.

  Edmodo is a webtool that you can use to create online classes and quizzes. I think that this tool is fairly useful, especially right now since we cannot hand over quiz papers to our students. Instead of papers, we can use the online quizzes to teach our students which makes things easier for us as well as the students. You can set a deadline and give students a time limit as well as some other things. You can have different kinds of questions as shown above as well as set how many points the question is worth and the option to duplicate the question. Overall, I think that this webtool can help the online education since it makes things it easier for all of the parties.

      As one of the 21st century skills, this skill is a must for teachers, you need to be up to date with the information as well as technology since you will be expected to know about it. While Information literacy and Communication Literacy are not new in our lives Technology Literach is. In the future, Technology will have a place of importance in teaching, as such, the teachers should work to stay up to date with technology and adapt to it.   

      This week, we talked about 21st Century Skills and this is the mindmap I've made while listening.

               TPACK( Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Framework) Model is a model that inegrates the new technological knowledge with the other knowledges (Pedagogical and Content Knowledges) as well as the other knowledges with each other to form new kinds of knowledges such as Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). The combination of all of the knowledges it TPACK( Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Framework). For more detailed information, click here.      SAMR model is about redifining your way of teaching with the aid of technology, however this redefinition does not start immedieately.       You first Enchance your teaching by Substituting the content of your class, for example a textbook, with technology and then augmenting it by using a technological tool to replacing it.    ...

  This is an update to my mindmap and it is about the TPACK Model. 

  This week, we talked about the SAMR model and watched a video about it. I found it really useful since the technology just keeps changing as time passes and teachers should keep up with it.
